You might not have heard about “Zurker” as it’s quite new, not only a ‘new website’ but also – A New Social Network. After the ‘insane’ popularity of Facebook not many people think about opening a new social networking site, probably because those who can are busy in ‘like’ and ‘share’ stuff! But there are exceptions who take a step forward and try to do something ‘different’ and ‘better’, and Zurker is different! Currently it is not open for general public, you need someone who can invite you.
“What’s the point of Zurker since we already have Facebook and Google+?” their answer is, “It is fundamentally better than FB. FB and G+ are driven by corporations with their corporate goals. It is owned by its members. Its product is designed to do just one thing, work well for the members, and corporate revenue is passed on to the members.”

What is Zurker?
It’s a Social Networking Site! Now don’t ask me what’s “Social Networking Site”, Ask Google!
One ‘unique’ thing about it, that Facebook and Google+ doesn’t have?
One person = one account. And ask me, the way they show this, so called ‘rule’, it looks like they are damn ‘serious’. This is a good thing as it’ll avoid fake accounts and duplicate accounts of a person.
What is so special about it?
Unlike other social networking sites, YOU are the owner of this one! When you sign up for your account you’ll receive a V-Share and every time you refer it to your friends, it’ll be counted as an addition to your V-Shares. It will be incorporated as a company when 1,000,000 V-shares have been allocated. (There are some Restrictions, Terms and conditions and it’s for limited period: know more about V-Shares, click here)
It is driven by Democracy.
We believe that if our members own the project, they will enthusiastically contribute ideas and feedback, allowing the development team to develop the application most in tune with what people actually want.
Does Zurker also use the ‘traditional’ terms? such as “Like” “Recommend” “Share” or “Plus One”?
No! Just – “Zurks”
We didn’t think “like” is an appropriate term. It may be good for, say, a photo of you on your wedding day. But is it right to “like” a post which says, “My aunt just passed away from lung cancer” or “60 Whales Beached in New Zealand”?. You’d be pretty tactless to say Oh I LIKE that, that’s awesome!. So we have zurks. To Zurk means to appreciate the fact that the member shared the information. It means to support the intent behind the act of sharing, and it can mean to like, to love, to commiserate, to respect, to admire – as appropriate for the occasion.
Is it available worldwide?
No, Not YET. It is currently available in United States, India, United Kingdom, Philippines, New Zealand, Australia and Canada. Each country’s Zurker website is an independent entity owned by residents of that country.
